Mustard

it 15 to 20 minutes before your meal.

they increase the metabolism rate of your body
- They're also beneficial for menopausal women who
have trouble sleeping.
- Apply mustard for insect bites.
- Mustard oil has less cholesterol and
so it reduces heart diseases.
- Kills Escherichia coli bacteria.
- Mustard seeds are very rich in calcium, manganese,
omega 3 fatty acids, iron, zinc, protein and dietary fiber
Harad (Chebulic Myrobalan) (kadukkai)
Harad
contains all the six tastes except lavana (saltish).
The Siddha sages have prescribed: Consume Ginger
in the morning; Dry Ginger in noon and Chebulic myrobalan or Kadukkai in the
evening to keep you young.
Rules for taking
haritaki in different seasons: During summer months, it should be taken with molasses; in
rainy season, it should be taken with rock-salt; in autumn, it should be taken
with sugarcandy; in dewy season, it is usually taken with ginger; in winter,
it should be taken along with ground pepper,and in spring, it is usually taken
with honey.
- Has antioxidant components
and can increase the life of tissues. Helps in removing toxins and fats from
the body.
- Chewing a piece of chebulic
myroblan is also an effective remedy for heartburn.
- Piles: The fresh fruits should be fried to a golden brown
color in castor oil, powdered and stored. Half a teaspoon of this
dissolved on the tongue at bedtime brings about normal bowel movement in
the morning and its astringent property heals the pile masses. Haritaki
chewed in the morning everyday in empty stomach heals a number of ailments
like piles, colitis, skin eruptions, constipation, voice disorders,
asthma, defective vision, wounds, acidity, gall-stones etc.
- Cures constipation.
Either the pulp of 2 to 3 fruits with a little rock salt or a decoction of
6 fruits and 4 grams of cloves or cinnamon, should be taken daily at bed
time to relieve constipation.
- Cures cough, chronic wounds and
ulcers.
- Diluted decoction is a popular
gargle for mouth inflammation. The paste of the fruit mixed in
thin buttermilk also makes a very effective gargle in gum inflammation.
The powder of the fruit when applied directly on the painful tooth gives
relief.
- It is also a valuable remedy
for chronic diarrhea and dysentery. Four
grams of the pulp of the unripe fruit is given with honey and aromatics
such as clove and cinnamon twice a day in the treatment of these diseases.
- A dilute decoction of chebulic
myroblan used as an eye wash helps to relieve eye congestion.
Can be used in case of all types of eye disorders such as conjunctivitis,
inflammation.
- Increases longevity. It is said
to be a good liver tonic
- Reduces high blood pressure and hypertension and
improves blood circulation.
- Mumps: Just apply the thick paste of chebulic myroblan over
the swelling. Often healing is quicker.
- Hair graying or hair falling
problems: take the paste of the fruit and mix it in coconut oil and boil till the herb
gets dissolved in the oil. Filter the oil and preserve it in a bottle.
Just apply this oil on your scalp daily and massage it. Alternatively you
can rinse your hair in diluted decoction before taking bath.
- This herb is
also used to cure asthma. One piece of fruit should be chewed every
night to help reduce the asthma conditions like breathing problems.
- Kills bacteria.
Inhibits growth of E. coli, the most common organism responsible for UTI
- Brush with the powder to reduce gum inflammation and bleeding of gums.
- Jaundice: Mix kadukai powder, jeera and consume with water in the evening.
- Ulcer : cures stomach and mouth ulcer.
- Cures eye sight problems, ear problems, pitha, mouth ulcer, sore throat, body heat, intestinal ulcer, diabetes, heart problems, arthritis.
- For gray hair: Mix kadukkai powder, mehindi powder, amla powder, tea docoction and lemon and keep it overnight. Apply in the morning and take bath. Do this once a week.
Else prepare oil : Mix kadukkai, amla, curry leaves, boil in gingely oil. Apply and take bath with seekakaai.
Precautions: The use of chebulic myroblan
should be avoided during pregnancy as it may cause abortion.
Dont use the seeds of kadukai. Also, dont use skin of ginger
